On March 17th, 2009 I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (cancer of the lymph node), but it took me close to 3 weeks to come to terms with it. Looking back now, I can account my delayed reaction to the illness stemming from my fear of the unknown and concern with how my family and friends would take the news.  I use the term “delayed reaction” loosely because there is no defined amount of time that it should take to register an illness. When the time was right for me, I was able to process all that was going on with one question still looming over my head: what would it be like living with cancer?

It is my mission to eradicate the negative meaning behind cancer by changing it to cancertainly which I define is to live in complete optimism throughout any road block encountered in life. If we are subjected to pleasure in life, then pain is also an inevitable part of life. However, it is important to go with the flow of life instead of going against it- especially during the troubled times. It is during those tough times that one should draw strength from within and know that they “cancertainly” get through whatever adversity they are going through by maintaining a positive attitude. Cancertainly is not limited to only people that have cancer, this word and what it signifies is for any one going through their own form of “cancer” in their lives: whether it is a bad marriage, abusive relationship, loss of a loved one to name a few. Cancertainly is for anyone looking to get inspired to live life in the moment.
I am inspired. Are you?
